American/Asian Short Film Competition
The Busan West Film Festival is currently accepting submissions for its inaugural Asian-American Short Film Competition, open to students and non-students alike. All entries must be submitted and postmarked by no later than February 14, 2013 to be eligible.
Each entry must include the following:
- Entry form – filled out completely and accurately. Any missing details will result in ineligibility.
- Films must feature an Asian or Asian-American story, topic, or feature Asian characters.
- Films must be completed no earlier than 2011.
- Films must be a U.S. production or co-production (i.e.: the film must be made by a U.S. citizen or have funding from the U.S.)
Short film directors and their cast/crew will get free passes to the festival but will need to arrange their own transportation and lodging.
Winners will be selected by a judging panel comprised of Dodge College of Film and Media Arts faculty, and representatives from the Korean Cinematheque, the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), and the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Two films will receive awards – one for the Best Narrative Short and one for the Best Documentary Short.
Prizes include screening at the next Busan International Film Festival in October 2013. Additional prizes include participating in the Asian Film Academy, a future invitation to include your feature film project synopsis in the Asian Cinema Fund, and a future invitation to include your feature film project synopsis in the BIFF Asian Project Market.
